Laser Dentistry – The Wave of the Future

What is Waterlase technology?

Who hates the sound of the dental drill? Almost everyone. Would you like a better way to get your cavities filled without the use of the drill? Dr. Montoya has the technology to do that through Laser Dentistry. He has implemented Waterlase technology; a laser that uses energy and water in place of typical instruments such as a scalpel or drill.

Dr. Montoya can perform different dental procedures on everything from the soft gum tissue to the harder teeth and bones with just the laser. When the laser meets a surface, a reaction occurs causing it to alter gum tissue and enamel with ease. While the laser is working, cool water is continuously being sprayed in the area to help mitigate any discomfort during the experience. This helps limit or completely eliminate the need for any anesthetic injections or numbness. This makes it a great easy option for the entire family!

When to choose Waterlase?

Waterlase is a great option for a variety of procedures that Boulder Dental Designs offers. We can use it for many things ranging from cavity removal to our tongue tie release procedures, also known as frenectomies.

What else about Waterlase?

Does using Waterlase change the healing process for procedures?

Waterlase technology does have a different healing process than typical periodontal treatments, but in the best way possible. Due to Waterlase being a minimally invasive procedure, once the procedure has been completed the mouth begins to heal almost immediately! The lasers also reduce bacteria, which is especially helpful when dealing with gum disease and preventing relapses. Lastly, since Waterlase cools the mouth during the procedure, any post-operative swelling, bleeding or discomfort are dramatically reduced.

Is Waterlase safe for kids?

Waterlase is a great option for both infants and young children. In addition to removing discomfort, it is also a much quieter option. Due to its precision, it prevents risk of tongue and cheek injuries and allows for a much quicker time with the Doctor. These are all reasons why Waterlase is one of Dr.Montoya’s favorite options when working with children.

Waterlase technology is one of the safest, most effective dental instruments available today. If you or your family has been avoiding the dentist for fear of discomfort or extended recovery time, Waterlase may be the option you’ve been waiting for.
